# Testing

> Build and test against staging with free testnet coins.

Staging runs the whole platform on testnets, so you can test real end-to-end payments without real money.

| | Staging |
| - | - |
| API | `https://api.staging.paywire.xyz` |
| Hosted checkout | `https://pay.staging.paywire.xyz/pay/{linkId}` |
| Chains | Ethereum Sepolia, OP Sepolia, Arbitrum Sepolia, Polygon Amoy, BNB Chain testnet, Tron Nile, Solana Devnet, Bitcoin Signet |

## Get test coins

| Network | Wallet | Where to get coins |
| - | - | - |
| EVM testnets | MetaMask or any EVM wallet | The chain's public faucet; test USDC at [faucet.circle.com](https://faucet.circle.com) |
| Tron Nile | TronLink (Nile network) | The Nile faucet (TRX and test USDT) |
| Solana Devnet | Phantom or Solflare (Devnet) | `solana airdrop` or the devnet faucet; test USDC at Circle's faucet |
| Bitcoin Signet | Sparrow or another signet wallet | A signet faucet |

## Scenarios worth testing

* **Exact payment** → `order.settled`.
* **A little too much** (within tolerance) → `order.settled`; **a lot too much** → `order.overpaid`, or `order.manual_review` above the review threshold.
* **Too little, then let it expire** → `order.expired_underpaid`.
* **Nothing, let it expire** → `order.expired`.
* **Your webhook endpoint returns 500** → Paywire retries; return 200 later and see the retry succeed.
* **A tampered body or an old timestamp** → your signature check rejects it.

## Inspect webhooks

Point `callbackUrl` at a request inspector such as [webhook.site](https://webhook.site) to see exactly what Paywire sends, headers included, before your own endpoint exists.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Staging data can be reset between releases, and testnet nodes are sometimes slow. A payment that takes longer than the times in [Networks and assets](https://docs.paywire.xyz/concepts/networks-and-assets.md) is usually the testnet, not your integration.
